"Utphall Runover By A Fish"!

Read all about it here. (click on to enlarge)

The new quarter-panels took a hit on each side. Kind of ironic that of all the places the car had to get wrecked for the first (and hopefully the last) time was those panels we worked so hard to find and were so proud of. Oh well, that's why they call it racing. Car looked good and ran good all night. No overheating problems so it looks like we have that solved. Have to try and step up our qualifying setup. I know we can qualify better than 11th. Found out we need more gear also. Alot of the tracks we will be racing on this year Shawn has never raced on before, so all this stuff (gear selection, car setup, tire pressure, etc...) is on a little bit of a learning curve for all of us. But hey, so far it's been a blast!! We finished 8th in the feature, which was a shame cause we we a good 2nd place car and now sit 6th in the standings. This series is going to be exciting with top runners such as; Chris Marek # 3, Jay Kalbus #27, Jerry Thompson #22 and of course our own little buddy Shawn Utphall #2!

Results Race#1 - Madison

HOT...HOT...HOT....Norine would not cooperate all weekend, she was running HOT (overheating) and now has the crew wondering why? We will get it sorted out and get it fixed. The weekend wasn't a total lost tho'. For starters, Don Heelein (official for tour) really liked the car. Said we had the best drivers seat in the series. Car passed inspection pretty well, just a few minor things to change. In the heat race we had to park the car cause of overheating. Shawn made the decision to start at the back for the feature, run 2 laps (for points) and park it. Well, (best part of the weekend) we started at the back and Shawn stayed out for 10 - 11 laps and was working his way to the front (passed Aaron Cain, last years Slinger Champion, - TWICE) with the car handling good and worked his way up to 6th when the car overheated and we parked it. All in all it was not the way we wanted to come out of the box, but the weekend wasn't a total lost either. Shawn got to know how the car handles with these particular tires and with the showing from the feature while we were out there, we found out we CAN run with the "big dogs" in this series. Hopefully, WE will be one of them before it's all over!
See you @ the Dells MAY 15 for the Cabin Fever 50L
